The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that develops fair, accurate, and credible methods for evaluating and labeling the radiative properties of roofing and exterior wall products. The mission of the CRRC is to bring objective, scientific information related to cool surfaces to critical discussions and informed decisions about the impacts of heat islands, extreme heat, and energy use in the built environment.
The CRRC maintains free, publicly available directories of rated roofing and exterior wall products. CRRC ratings provide third-party-verified solar reflectance and thermal emittance data that can be used to comply with building energy codes, earn credits toward voluntary green building programs, and qualify for rebates and financial incentives. The CRRC performs technical research to support the scientific rigor of the product rating programs and conducts education and outreach to raise awareness of the impacts of highly solar-reflective “cool” roofs and cool exterior walls.
The CRRC is also a member-based organization. CRRC members have a voice in the direction of the organization by participating in Board of Directors elections, voting on critical issues, and serving on the CRRC’s advisory committees and Board. They also have the opportunity to interface with industry leaders and a wide variety of stakeholders at the CRRC Annual Meeting and other events.
